As part of our growth, we are seeking to recruit an Accountant – Shared Services who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of shared service operations within our finance department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Accountant – Shared Services will work under the Finance Department and be responsible for implementing effective accounting procedures, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The main duties include:
1. Policies and Procedures

Participate in the formulation and periodic review of finance policies.
-
Review and update finance standard operating procedures (SOPs), processes, and documentation.

Contribute to the development of financial risk mitigation strategies.

Guide the implementation of strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
2. Process Controls and Execution
-
Process payroll accurately and within agreed timelines.
-
Ensure compliance with payroll regulatory requirements.
-
Oversee accurate and timely bank reconciliations with proper approvals.
-
Manage asset accounting processes and ensure timely statutory remittances.
-
Review statutory deduction ledgers, including PAYE, NSSF, LST, and Provident Fund.
-
Maintain organized finance document management and archiving systems.
3. General Ledger Reconciliations
-
Prepare, review, and approve payroll reconciliations to the general ledger.
-
Supervise and approve bank reconciliations to the general ledger.
-
Conduct reconciliations of accruals and prepayments for accuracy.
-
Oversee the fixed asset register and ensure it is up to date.
-
Analyze reconciliation reports and recommend process improvements.
4. Human Resource Management and Development
-
Orient new staff and set clear performance expectations.
-
Oversee performance management processes, ensuring timely appraisals.
-
Train and mentor finance staff to achieve high performance.
-
Coordinate annual leave schedules to ensure operational continuity.
-
Manage staff training and development initiatives to build skills and capacity.
5. Preparation of Reports
-
Prepare accurate financial and management reports in line with organizational reporting standards.

Provide timely insights to support decision-making by senior management.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
The ideal candidate for the position of Accountant – Shared Services must possess the following:

Education:
-
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or any related field from a reputable institution.

Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is a strong advantage (either completed or in progress).

Experience:
-
At least five (5) years of experience in a busy finance and accounts function.

Previous experience in payroll processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Familiarity with accounting systems; knowledge of Solomon is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

Strong knowledge of financial principles, cash flow management, and risk analysis.

High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.

Proficiency in MS Office applications and modern accounting software.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
