Accountant (Full-Time) – Latitude Craft Chocolate
Location: Uganda Reporting to: Managing Director Latitude Craft Chocolate is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to join our team in Uganda. This is a full-time, in-country position supporting both our cocoa sourcing and chocolate production operations. The role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight & Management Accounting
- Oversee all financial operations related to cocoa sourcing and chocolate production.
- Submit accurate management accounts and tax returns by the 10th of each month.
- Maintain expense categorization and data entry in Odoo.
- Perform bank and inventory reconciliations (raw materials, packaging, WIP, and finished goods).
- Ensure daily entry completion in Odoo for weekly reconciliation.
- Team Supervision & Capacity Building
- Manage and support 4–5 Accounts Assistants.
- Oversee training, task planning, performance evaluation, and work approval.
- Cash Flow & Financial Planning
- Coordinate 2-week and 4-week cash requirement planning.
- Support AR/AP organization and reconciliation processes.
- Sales, Inventory & Cost Tracking
- Verify cocoa and chocolate sales invoices.
- Reconcile retail sales and inventory.
- Produce inventory and sales reports weekly and monthly.
- Report weekly on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
- Compliance & Auditing
- Assist in annual audit preparation and execution.
- Conduct routine inventory audits.
- Support financial tracking for loans, investors, partners, and donors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- CPA or ACCA certification required.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in finance or accounting, preferably in agro-processing.
- Familiarity with accounting software; Odoo experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel to rural areas as needed.
- Previous experience in Africa or a similar setting is an advantage.
