Job Summary
We are hiring a Head of Information Technology (Head of IT) to lead the strategic planning, development, and implementation of cost-effective technology solutions aligned with our business objectives. This role demands an individual who can combine strong leadership skills with cutting-edge IT expertise to enhance efficiency, security, and innovation across the organization.
The Head of IT will be responsible for developing and enforcing IT policies, managing infrastructure, implementing robust cybersecurity measures, and ensuring that technology investments deliver maximum value to the business.
Reports To: Chief Finance Officer
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning

Develop and execute short- and long-term IT strategies aligned with business goals.

Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

Provide leadership in IT governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Team Management & Capacity Building
-
Build and mentor a high-performing IT team through continuous training, performance reviews, and professional development initiatives.

Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the IT department.
Infrastructure & Systems Management
-
Oversee preventive maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and end-user devices.

Implement and support key business systems such as O365, SAP, LIMS, and Trackwise.
-
Manage GxP and non-GxP systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
Cybersecurity & Data Protection

Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies, including regular audits and vulnerability assessments.

Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and secure handling of sensitive business information.

Implement disaster recovery and backup procedures, testing them regularly to ensure readiness.
Project & Budget Management

Plan, initiate, and track IT projects to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.

Develop and manage the IT department’s annual budget, ensuring optimal resource utilization.

Oversee procurement, inventory, and lifecycle management of IT hardware and software.
Operational Support
-
Provide second and third-level technical support for core applications and infrastructure.

Ensure timely upgrades of hardware and software to minimize disruptions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address IT-related operational needs.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.

Postgraduate qualifications in IT or business-related fields are an added advantage.
-
Professional certifications such as NSE, SIEMC, CCNA, NCP are highly desirable.
Experience
-
At least 10 years of progressive IT experience, including 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Proven track record in managing IT projects, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Demonstrated success in network administration, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.
Skills & Knowledge
-
Strong understanding of GxP compliance, IT governance, and data security protocols.

Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

Up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging technologies relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
