Overview
The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) is the national military organization responsible for safeguarding Uganda’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests. Established in 1986, the UPDF operates under a disciplined, professional, and patriotic framework committed to peace, security, and development.

To provide a disciplined, well-trained, and adequately equipped military force capable of defending Uganda’s territorial integrity, supporting national development, and participating in regional and international peacekeeping operations.

Key Functions
- Defending Uganda against external aggression and internal threats

Organizational Structure
The UPDF comprises various branches including the Land Forces, Air Force, Special Forces Command, and Reserve Forces. It is governed by the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and operates under the command of the Chief of Defence Forces.
Recruitment & Training
The UPDF maintains rigorous recruitment standards to ensure it enlists qualified, disciplined, and patriotic citizens. Training emphasizes military skills, leadership, physical fitness, and ethical conduct to develop competent and dedicated personnel.
Regional & International Engagement
