General Summary
The Community Based Trainer will deliver high-impact evidence-based household economic strengthening interventions designed to spur growth and steer participation of beneficiary households in mainstream government development programs. The community-based trainer will ensure mobilization of program beneficiaries and enrollment of primary caregivers and youth for economic strengthening services.
Key Responsibilities
- Mobilize and raise awareness among community leaders and local authorities regarding VSLA project activities.
- Mobilizee and sensitizee program households (primary caregivers and youth) to establish VSLAs, kitchen gardens, and participate in community level economic strengthening interventions.
- Training village groups to implement VSLA methodology, financial literacy, Selection Planning and Management of IGAs among other training.
- Make follow up visits and provide technical support/ mentorship to VSLA groups in a phased manner.
- Gathering VSLA data on monthly/ quarterly basis, monitoring and evaluating the associations.
- Collaboration and Networking with community local leaders at Village and sub county
- Support registration of groups at sub county/ district level and follow up to ensure certification.
- Linking VSLAs to government programs and other livelihood development
opportunities.
- Coaching and mentoring of the management committees of the formed VSLAs.
- Coordinate with other platforms to layer other group-based services like GBV/HIV prevention education, parenting, financial education, life skills among others.
- Supporting groups to conduct share out/action audits; especially at the end of the first cycle.Preparation of periodic (monthly and weekly) activity work plans
- Distributing of VSLA tool kits and coordinating payment and collection of tool kit funds
Academic Qualification
- UCE Certificate
Person Specification
- Minimum of UCE Certificate
- Previous experience supporting community groups and microfinance activities.
- Numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to work for long hours
- Must resident and familiar with community operations/ structures
- Ability in mobilizing community members including vulnerable households and young people
- Willingness to volunteer and work beyond working hours
- Should have a known good track and pose no danger to children
