Ibero Uganda Ltd, part of Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG), is hiring a Sustainability Associate based in Kampala. This role supports responsible business practices across the supply chain, with a strong focus on supply chain integrity, human rights risk assessment, and Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) implementation. The Sustainability Associate helps strengthen due diligence systems, supports environmental stewardship, and improves sustainability data management and reporting to meet internal standards and external requirements. You will play a practical and coordination-focused role. You will work with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure policies and tools are implemented effectively, records remain accurate, and sustainability actions are tracked consistently. If you have a solid foundation in environmental sciences or sustainability, enjoy structured reporting, and can manage deadlines while working with diverse stakeholders, this position offers strong exposure to international standards and progressive sustainability systems.Your Key Responsibilities
1) Supply Chain Integrity Program Implementation
You will support the implementation of the Supply Chain Integrity Program (SCIP) in Uganda. SCIP is an NKG program that helps NKG companies meet supply chain due diligence requirements through a management approach that supports economic viability. In this responsibility area, you will lead and coordinate key SCIP activities, including the following:- Lead business partner due diligence procedures to strengthen compliance and transparency within the supply chain.
- Support assessment of human rights risks and contribute to mitigation actions aligned with responsible business practices.
- Coordinate distribution and internal uptake of the NKG Supplier Code of Conduct, including communication support where required.
- Support implementation of the grievance mechanism, including awareness, accessibility, and documentation of cases and follow-up actions.
2) ESG and Environmental Stewardship
You will support Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) structures and environmental stewardship within local operations. This includes strengthening systems that help the organization meet both internal requirements and external regulatory expectations. You will take a lead role in the local implementation and maintenance of ESG systems and structures, including Occupational Health and Safety (OSH).- Maintain and improve ESG structures and systems within local operations, including OSH processes and documentation.
- Support compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements, including continuous improvement actions.
- Lead implementation and monitoring of environment and climate action plans, ensuring activities remain measurable and time-bound.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to encourage practical environmental stewardship across operations.
3) Sustainability Data Management and Reporting
Sustainability reporting depends on accurate data and consistent record-keeping. In this role, you will coordinate the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date sustainability records. You will also support the set-up and management of data collection tools and the management of data software used for sustainability tracking.- Set up, manage, and improve sustainability data collection tools and workflows to support reliable reporting.
- Maintain accurate records, including structured filing and version control for sustainability documents and datasets.
- Lead annual data collection activities for group sustainability reporting, ensuring completeness and quality checks.
- Support internal reporting schedules by compiling progress updates and sharing insights with relevant stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, or a closely related field.
- Experience with ESG systems and structures is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL).
- High level of personal integrity and empathy, especially when handling sensitive issues related to human rights and grievances.
- High resilience and reliability, with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach and the ability to propose workable improvements.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive work relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
