Bank of Africa Uganda is seeking to recruit a competent Internal Auditor who will be responsible for planning and performing internal audits, evaluating results, documenting findings, preparing reports, and ensuring timely follow-up on recommendations. This role is key in strengthening the bank’s internal controls, risk management, compliance, and governance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in preparing and performing audits in line with the Annual Audit Plan and specific requests from Management.

• Develop and apply risk assessments to identify risks within auditable units as per the annual audit plan.

• Design audit tests to address identified risks and achieve audit objectives, ensuring effective risk management and mitigation.

• Conduct routine and follow-up audits with minimal supervision, from planning to report writing and resolution of exceptions.

• Prepare clear and concise audit reports highlighting non-compliance with policies, statutory requirements, and procedures for review with line managers and the Audit Manager.

• Follow up on audit recommendations and ensure compliance within the agreed timeframe.

• Investigate reported frauds and forgeries as assigned.

• Review and verify reports submitted to the Bank of Uganda (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly).

• Recommend operational efficiencies, cost reduction measures, and revenue enhancement opportunities.

• Maintain professional development through self-learning, in-house training, and participation in relevant courses.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIA, CPA, or CFE are an added advantage.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in audit and banking.

• Proficiency in computerized accounting and audit systems.

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

• High level of business acumen and sound judgment.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

• Strong planning and prioritization abilities.

• Commitment to meeting deadlines, objectives, and professional standards.

• High levels of integrity and ethical conduct.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
