Job Description

WaterAid Uganda is hiring two (2) Project Assistants for the SCIF Project. This initiative blends WASH service delivery with hygiene education and behavior change campaigns to improve water access and sanitation for vulnerable communities. The SCIF Project focuses on improving borehole functionality, promoting household water treatment, enhancing water quality, and contributing to carbon offset through non-energy-intensive practices. This is a fantastic opportunity for professionals passionate about community health and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute project activities in line with WaterAid’s strategic goals.
  • Support WASH delivery and promote community-level hygiene and behavioral change.
  • Encourage climate-smart hygiene practices and safe water chain management at the household level.
  • Promote environmentally friendly water treatment methods, excluding boiling, to support carbon offsetting.
  • Collaborate with District Water Offices and the Ministry of Water and Environment on water quality sampling and testing.
  • Adopt a systems-strengthening approach to improve WASH sustainability and institutional capacity.
  • Ensure cost-effective project implementation and operations aligned with WaterAid’s mission.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in WASH-related projects.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in project management.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and reporting skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • High attention to detail, self-motivated, and a proactive team player.
