CIC Insurance Uganda is hiring a Head of Finance responsible for overseeing the IFRS 17 reporting workflow, ensuring data validation, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This role provides strategic support in board reports, internal control, and regulatory submissions while leading financial operations and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

IFRS 17 Compliance & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly IFRS 17 finance data and coordinate with the actuarial team.
  • Oversee IFRS 17-compliant management and statutory financial reports.
  • Review and approve IFRS 17-compliant Risk-Based Supervision (RBS) returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all statutory and regulatory returns.

Financial Controls & Compliance

  • Evaluate internal financial and operational controls, recommending improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with the Insurance Act and company investment policy.
  • Maintain asset register accuracy and support internal/external audits.

Strategic Financial Management

  • Approve financial reports and board papers.
  • Lead annual budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Drive expense management and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Authorize payments and accurate cost center postings.

Credit Control & Receivables Management

  • Develop and manage credit control strategies and policies.
  • Lead the credit control committee and track execution of its resolutions.
  • Set cash collection targets and reduce outstanding premiums.

Cash Flow & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage liquidity and ensure healthy cash flow.
  • Engage with banks, URA, IRA, and other stakeholders.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by executive management or the board.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Admin (bias in accounting); Master’s degree is a must.
  • Professional: CPA or ACCA is a must.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years relevant experience, including 4 at supervisory level.
