Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) is a non-profit organization committed to empowering young people in Uganda through health, education, and empowerment programs. With a vibrant, youth-driven approach, RAHU engages stakeholders in advancing social and economic development. The organization is currently looking for a qualified and experienced Finance Manager to lead financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sustainable growth.Job Summary
The Finance Manager will oversee all financial aspects of the organization, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, audits, and compliance. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in supporting programmatic delivery and strategic decision-making through timely and accurate financial data. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who is passionate about transparency, accountability, and youth empowerment in Uganda.Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the finance department, ensuring effective financial planning, monitoring, and control across all RAHU programs.
- Prepare and monitor organizational and project-specific budgets in collaboration with project teams and senior management.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to donors, board members, and stakeholders in accordance with statutory and donor requirements.
- Oversee payroll preparation, tax remittance, and ensure compliance with national laws and accounting standards.
- Develop internal control systems and risk mitigation strategies to protect the financial integrity of the organization.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banking institutions, and financial partners.
- Ensure timely filing of statutory returns including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, and income tax.
- Train and mentor junior finance staff to build a strong internal capacity in financial management and compliance.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and systems.
- Support the executive team in long-term financial planning and resource mobilization.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Professional certification (a MUST): CPA (U), ACCA, or CIMA.
- Academic qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or any related field with a specialization in finance or accounting.
- A Postgraduate diploma or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related disciplines is an added advantage.
- Must be an active member of a recognized accounting professional body such as:
- The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU)
- Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- Certified Public Accountants (CPA)
- Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA)
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit or donor-funded environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, budgeting, audit processes, and statutory requirements in Uganda.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach and develop staff.
