Job Summary

Welthungerhilfe Uganda is hiring a full-time Expert – Life Skills Coach to empower vulnerable youth—especially young women—from refugee and host communities. The successful candidate will help youth build self-confidence, resilience, and essential life skills through group training and personalized coaching.

Key Responsibilities

1. Coaching & Personal Development

  • Deliver both one-on-one and group coaching sessions focused on mindset, self-confidence, goal-setting, and foundational life skills.
  • Help youth identify their strengths and develop realistic personal and entrepreneurial goals.
  • Track individual progress through follow-up sessions and documentation.

2. Mentorship & Motivation

  • Identify and train community mentors who can support youth development.
  • Organize motivational talks to boost morale and inspire long-term personal growth.

3. Psychosocial Support

  • Offer basic psychosocial first aid and provide referrals to specialized mental health services where necessary.
  • Create a safe, inclusive space that encourages healing and emotional resilience.

4. Soft Skills & Capacity Building

  • Facilitate training on communication, leadership, emotional intelligence, and decision-making.
  • Guide youth in developing personalized development plans aligned with career or entrepreneurship goals.

5. Gender Equality & Inclusion

  • Ensure equal participation of girls, youth with disabilities, and refugee populations.
  • Address gender-based barriers and promote gender-transformative approaches in coaching sessions.

6. Collaboration & Referrals

  • Work closely with vocational trainers, social workers, and local partners to provide integrated support.
  • Refer youth to relevant services including GBV, mental health, and skills development programs.

7. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Maintain confidential coaching records and contribute to project progress reports.
  • Document success stories and key learnings for internal use and donor communication.

8. Additional Duties

  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall development of the youth empowerment program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the project or line manager.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in life coaching, youth mentorship, or psychosocial support—preferably in a humanitarian or development setting.
  • Certification in Coaching, Mentorship, or related training is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience working with refugees, vulnerable women, and youth in fragile contexts is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience with gender-transformative approaches is a strong asset.
