Position: Manager – Innovation & Client Solutions

Reports to: Head of Innovation, Business Integration & Client Solutions
Location: Kingdom Kampala


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Innovation Strategy & Business Growth

  • Develop and execute a bank-wide innovation strategy aligned with the digital transformation agenda.

  • Identify and act on emerging trends, client insights, and opportunities for growth.

  • Cultivate a culture of creativity and experimentation across departments.

  • Lead the design, testing, and rollout of innovative banking solutions.

  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with fintechs, vendors, and industry players.

  • Drive enhancements in the digital customer experience across all channels.

2. Client-Centric Solution Development

  • Engage directly with key clients to understand needs and pain points.

  • Design tailored banking solutions that align with clients’ strategic goals.

  • Monitor and integrate market feedback, analytics, and customer insights to enhance product offerings.

  • Guide teams through ideation, prototyping, and full-scale solution implementation.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Product, IT, Marketing, Compliance, Business Development).

  • Represent I&M Bank at industry forums, conferences, and innovation hubs.

  • Work closely with the sales and relationship teams to present new digital solutions to clients.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on innovation, digital banking, and customer experience.

4. Thought Leadership & Innovation Culture

  • Lead cross-functional project teams in developing and launching new products or digital platforms.

  • Conduct internal training and knowledge-sharing sessions.

  • Champion an agile mindset and innovative culture throughout the bank.

5. Governance, Risk, and Compliance

  • Evaluate risks tied to innovation including regulatory, reputational, and technical risks.

  • Recommend and implement fraud prevention and control measures.

  • Ensure all solutions meet compliance standards and governance frameworks.

6. Data Analytics & Performance Insights

  • Use data and client analytics to discover product gaps, growth areas, and performance trends.

  • Produce regular reports on project performance, client feedback, and innovation KPIs.

  • Optimize solutions based on performance metrics and customer engagement.


Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, or related field.

  • Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.

  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile) are an added advantage.

Experience:

  • 5–7 years of experience in banking, fintech, or financial services.

  • Proven track record in product development, innovation, or client solutions.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and digital transformation projects.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in Uganda’s financial sector.


Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of banking products and customer segments.

  • Deep knowledge of emerging technologies (AI, Blockchain, Cloud, Open Banking).

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Analytical, data-driven approach with strong business acumen.

  • Familiarity with customer journey mapping and digital experience design.

  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to lead in a fast-paced innovation environment.
