About the Role: QC Technician South

Direction: Upstream Project
Reports to: QC Leader South
Location: Field/Site-Based, Uganda

As the QC Technician South, you will support the QC Leader South in supervising inspection activities, maintaining documentation standards, and ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, and safety requirements on-site.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the QC Leader in managing inspection functions and ensuring adherence to technical and operational procedures.

  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with company specifications and statutory regulations.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor contractor work quality and progress.

  • Supervise third-party inspection personnel to meet project standards.

  • Perform direct inspection tasks and submit accurate, detailed reports.

  • Review, comment on, and approve contractor documentation and inspection reports.

  • Issue and follow up on non-conformance and corrective action reports.

  • Monitor trends in quality control and recommend improvements.

  • Maintain up-to-date inspection documentation and ensure all personnel have access to relevant specifications and codes.

  • Liaise with contractor inspection teams to resolve on-site quality issues.

  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly progress meetings with the QC Leader and project teams.

  • Report any risks that could impact schedule or costs to project leadership.

  • Compile and submit daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports.

  • Ensure that Good Industry Practices and Quality Assurance Systems are implemented across all inspection processes.


Candidate Requirements

Education & Certifications:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.

  • CSWIP Senior Welding Inspector Certificate (mandatory).

  • Valid Medical Certificate in accordance with company HSE standards.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, or Construction industries.

  • Proven knowledge in welding, fabrication, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), and metallurgy.

  • Experience with coating plant inspection, onshore/offshore pipeline construction, and plant operations.

  • Demonstrated application of Quality Assurance Systems and auditing.

  • Familiarity with national and international codes & standards (e.g., API, ASME, ISO).

  • Previous experience working on major international oil company (IOC) projects is a strong advantage.

  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
