Job Description
DHL Uganda is hiring a SHEQ Officer to oversee Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) operations. The role involves driving compliance, managing risk, leading site audits and safety checks, and promoting continuous improvement initiatives across all operations in Kampala.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to HSE laws, lead site inspections, and manage corrective action plans.
- Develop and implement Health, Safety & Environment practices in line with legal requirements.
- Investigate accidents, identify root causes, and document preventative actions.
- Advise management on HSE legislation and recommend improvement strategies.
- Implement physical and procedural security measures for staff and customer products.
- Conduct assessments of Health & Safety systems and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Support managers in maintaining safe work systems and provide expert coaching as needed.
- Manage HSE and Quality performance of suppliers and implement improvement plans.
- Respond to customer HSE and Quality concerns and ensure continuous service delivery.
- Maintain operational oversight on-site, encourage staff engagement, and CSR involvement.
- Track and improve SHEQ KPIs and lead performance audits at national sites.
- Lead training sessions and foster a safety-first culture through campaigns and GEMBA walks.
- Promote sustainability initiatives like recycling and pollution reduction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant SHEQ experience.
- NEBOSH Certificate and ISO 45001/14001/9001 Lead Auditor certification preferred.
- Additional qualifications in Quality Management or Risk Management are a plus.
