Medical Officer
Type: Full-time
Location: Kalisizo, Uganda
Employer: Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP)
Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) is seeking a passionate and qualified Medical Officer to join its clinical team at the Kalisizo clinic. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide critical leadership and clinical expertise in delivering comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment services in South-central Uganda.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening healthcare delivery, enhancing clinical quality, and supporting ongoing public health research in line with RHSP’s mission to improve health outcomes in the region.
Key Responsibilities
As the Medical Officer, you will:

Deliver comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment services in accordance with Uganda’s Ministry of Health (MoH) guidelines.

Provide clinical leadership and oversight to ensure efficient, high-quality care across RHSP clinics.
-
Supervise and mentor healthcare teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and clinical protocols.
-
Support and implement continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities to strengthen service delivery.
-
Ensure proper documentation, accurate data entry, and maintenance of up-to-date patient records.
-
Contribute to RHSP’s research initiatives, including the design, implementation, and monitoring of studies.

Assist with grant writing, research publications, and preparation of periodic reports.

Analyze clinic performance data to inform programming and strategic decision-making.
-
Facilitate continuing medical education (CME) and capacity building for clinical staff.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
-
Completion of medical internship in Uganda.
-
Full registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not mandatory, candidates with the following will have an added advantage:

Additional training in HIV/AIDS care and treatment.
-
Strong counseling and interpersonal communication skills.
-
Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
-
Experience working with public health programs and NGOs.
-
Familiarity with research protocols, data analysis, and ethical research practices.
