Accounts Intern

Type: Full-time Internship

The Davis & Shirtliff Group, the leading supplier of water and energy solutions in the region, is seeking to hire a dynamic and results-oriented Accounts Intern to join its Uganda team. This internship provides a valuable opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in financial operations, accounting processes, and ERP systems within a reputable and fast-paced organization.

Key Responsibilities

As an Accounts Intern, you will work under the supervision of senior finance staff and be responsible for supporting various financial and administrative functions including:

  • Maintaining the general ledger and ensuring accurate financial records.

  • Managing cash office operations and assisting in daily transactions.

  • Performing bank reconciliations and assisting with monthly account closings.

  • Supporting credit control activities and job costing processes.

  • Assisting in the preparation and analysis of management accounts.

  • Raising invoices and handling quick sales transactions.

  • Posting transactions in the system and issuing stock.

  • Participating in inventory and stock management exercises.

  • Performing any other duties necessary to support the finance department.


Qualifications and Requirements

Ideal candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field from a recognized university with a minimum of Upper Second Class Honours.

  • Fully qualified CPA (U) or ACCA is a must.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior work experience (1–2 years) in accounting or finance is an added advantage.

  • Familiarity with financial accounting software or ERP systems will be a significant plus.
