Job Summary

Jumia Uganda is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Logistics Manager to lead our end-to-end logistics operations. This includes material handling, transportation, delivery, return collections, and managing third-party logistics partners. The role is vital in ensuring an efficient, safe, and customer-focused logistics operation.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Operations Management

• Oversee daily logistics operations including deliveries, returns, warehousing, and dispatch.

• Ensure last-mile delivery and warehouse teams follow operational and safety standards.

• Monitor KPIs and performance metrics to maintain quality and efficiency across all logistics processes.

Process Optimization & Strategy

• Identify gaps in existing processes and implement improvements to match Jumia’s rapid growth.

• Collaborate with the IT team to enhance internal systems and support technological advancements.

• Benchmark against global logistics best practices and customize them for local execution.

Leadership & People Management

• Develop and manage schedules for logistics personnel, ensuring adequate resource allocation.

• Lead and mentor teams across the logistics chain, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics partners and internal stakeholders.

• Coordinate with Jumia Services' central team to align with regional goals and practices.

Financial Oversight

• Own the logistics P&L and ensure all operations are cost-effective.

• Drive performance to meet financial targets while ensuring a seamless customer experience.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Master’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or MBA from a recognized institution.

• Experience: Minimum of 8 years in logistics or operations, with at least 2 years in a senior management role. Experience in manufacturing, production, e-commerce, or consulting/banking is an added advantage.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

  • Experience with Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Docs, Drive, Gmail).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
