Job Opportunity: Accountant (Full-Time)

Location: Kampala, Uganda

Armstrong Consulting Engineers Limited is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to take on the responsibility of overseeing our financial operations. The ideal candidate will play a key role in planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all finance-related activities to ensure compliance, efficiency, and accuracy across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial documents including bills, invoices, purchase orders, payment vouchers, and statements of accounts.
  • Manage and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Handle payroll operations and ensure timely salary disbursements.
  • Oversee payment and billing processes for clients, vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Prepare and present daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and budgets for management.
  • Support both internal and external audit processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory deductions: WHT, VAT, PAYE, NSSF, and LST, and maintain proper records of payments and receipts.
  • Review and verify payroll accuracy each month.
  • Enforce existing financial policies and recommend improvements where needed.
  • File annual tax returns and generate EFRIS invoices.
  • Monitor and renew all mandatory subscriptions and licenses, including UACE, UIPE, and KCCA trading licenses.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Auditing from a recognized university.
  • At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks.
  • Sound understanding of GAAP and internal control procedures.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and spoken English.
