The Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA), Uganda’s lead institution in fighting money laundering and terrorism financing, is seeking to recruit a passionate and driven Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. The ideal candidate will support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Authority’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems to ensure timely reporting, effective performance tracking, and impact assessment of FIA programs and initiatives. This position is ideal for recent graduates in statistics, economics, or M&E who are ready to contribute to impactful national programs while gaining valuable public sector experience.Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and regularly review the FIA Statistics Strategic Plan as a subset of the broader Plan for National Statistical Development (PNSD).
- Prepare and submit regular M&E reports including quarterly and annual updates that reflect the performance and impact of FIA programs.
- Provide cross-departmental technical support in the development of M&E plans with SMART indicators and results frameworks.
- Coordinate mid-term and end-of-cycle evaluations for FIA initiatives, programs, and interventions to assess progress and inform policy adjustments.
- Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date database capturing core economic and institutional indicators related to money laundering (ML), terrorism financing (TF), and proliferation financing (PF).
- Implement M&E standards, tools, and methodologies that align with national and international best practices.
- Track and document key issues, challenges, and lessons emerging from monitoring activities for continuous learning and program improvement.
- Support the planning and budgeting function by providing M&E insights that inform resource allocation and prioritization.
- Collaborate with the Research and Policy department to integrate data analysis and M&E findings into reports and recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Development Economics, Quantitative Economics, or Monitoring and Evaluation from a recognized institution.
Experience
- No prior work experience required. This is an entry-level opportunity suitable for new graduates.
